Fitness Project Update

Week 2 was a roller coaster I actually put ON weight 1/2kg then I lost 1kg at the end of the week. So to date I have lost a total of 2 kg in 3 weeks which isn't too bad. You know you have that thought in the back of your mind that you really want it to just drop off but that's just not going to happen...so let's put my realistic hat on.

I have decided to measure myself as well so the weeks where I don't lose many Kg's maybe it won't be all bad because hopefully I would have lost inches.....or centimetres.

I am loving my workouts and I get frustrated if time doesn't permit and I am quite disciplined with food because I know how hard I work to burn calories as it is, let alone if I stuff myself with something. My challenge is still eating during the day so I really have to make a big batch of soup so it's there and easy to prepare.

How are you going?

Fitness Project Update

Last week a started my Can I lose 10kg in 12 weeks Fitness Project so every Monday will bring a weigh in and update on my progress.

Weight Loss- 1.5kg

I feel like I've lost the double chin I started to get...Yay! When I look in the mirror I feel like my skin looks healthier.

Work outs- It feels good to be exercising again. In saying that I wasn't as unfit as I thought I would be....maybe running around after the girls is doing something. I found running some days were harder then others but all in all because it's only 20 mins it's not too time consuming; which I need. I am really enjoying my boxing bag for my upper body workouts. I am sore but it's a good pain.

Food- I eat healthy anyway so this was never going to be hard for me however I am having to remind myself to eat lunch because when I am working I get so focused on what I'm doing I forget to eat. So yesterday I made a big batch of soup so it's there and just have to heat it up.

It's much easier to eat healthy when you workout because you know how much work you've put into losing it and you really don't what to jeopardise that.

How did you go?

Can I lose 10Kg in 12 Weeks...Fitness Project

Today I embarked on my new fitness regime and thought I would share my journey with you and maybe inspire you to jump on board.

My goal
* Lose 10 kilos in 12 weeks

I have decided to do the Body for Life routine because it's great if you're time poor and it's simple and it makes sense to me.

Meals
You have one "free day" a week the idea is to have 5 small meals and basically fill up on salad and vegetables and protein is the size of your fist.

So my biggest challenge will be to actually eat during the day and have a smaller meal at night. I often work through lunch because I am in the zone however I will have to make an effort the stop and eat.

Exercise

20 minutes cardio 6 days a week. Basically the 20 minutes cardio is designed in a way that you maximise your 20 mins and you don't get bored. The thought process is that work outs shouldn't be long for example the fitter you get the longer the workouts? No it's about pushing yourself. So the 20 minutes looks like this-

1. Warm up the first 2 minutes at Intensity Level 5
2. Minutes 2-3 move from Intensity Level 5 to 6
3. Minutes 4-5, 6-10 and 11-14 work your way from Intensity Level 6 to Level 9, maintain for one minute.
4. Minutes 15-19 work your way from Intensity Level 6 to Level 10 (High Point at Level 10), maintain for one minute.
5. Minute 20 cool down to Intensity Level 5 for one minute.

Weight Training
3 times a week and alternating between upper and lower body this should only take 25 minutes.

Abs you do everyday or 6 days that you're training.

For more info on Body For Life or to view their success stories you can go to www.bodyforlife.com

So who's in with me? I will be updating you every week over the next 12 weeks so I would love to have on board.

Plus Size Models 'Hot Property'

Last week I wrote a post Who's The Sexiest? talking about a Dress Size Survey which Australian Fashion Magazine Marie Claire had conducted.i

The same day Jen Hawkins was on the cover of Marie Claire posing nude and untouched to promote Healthy Living. Huge media coverage and quite a bit of controversy as to whether she was appropriate being that she is Size 6.

Marie Claire Editor Jackie Frank stated on the 7pm Project that Jen sells magazines and she gets huge media coverage and a real woman wouldn't necessarily get that attention.
True Story! Fair enough she has a job to do and she does it well. She is actually I think one of the nicest and real ladies in the industry.

BUT ALAS

4 Days later, what I do see? Abby Valdes- Size 14 to 16

HOW HOT IS SHE? I THINK SHE IS DEAD SEXY!

Plus Size Models Are 'Hot Property'

An article on news.ninemsn about Plus size models being in HUGE demand.

Fashion magazines Madison, Marie Claire and Cosmopolitan were now regularly booking plus-size models.

Australia's Woman's Weekly in their latest edition has a 15 page spread featuring plus size models.

Have we had a light bulb moment, are the Australian Fashion Magazines going to promote real women? God, I hope so I don't want my girls having a warped perception of body image.

Who's The Sexiest?

I am so excited about 2010! Bring it on, its going to be a cracker.

I WASN’T so excited when I stepped on the scales this morning and discovered I have put on 3kg over what was one of the greatest Festive Seasons ever.
So now I have a whopping 8kg that I would LOVE to say goodbye too. My Baby Girl is 13months now so therefore no longer an excuse.

How can I lose weight?

First things first no more alcohol! Ok that is just not realistic- Cut down on alcohol,
Replace and replenish- For the next 5 days I am nourishing my body with a vegetable soup for lunch and dinner.
Healthy Snacks- No chips, no cheese, just fruit.
Step up the exercise- I have been using my usual exercise time and doing work so I need to adjust my schedule and fit exercise in. Aim 4 times a week.

After my 5 day cleanse I will continue on my normal eating regime as per prior to the festive season.

FACT- Most people will put on between 1 to 4kg over the Christmas period.

How much did you put on and how are you going to lose it?

Who's The Sexiest?

When I was getting my HOT new haircut I was reading Marie Claire and I came across an interesting piece.

Australian fashion Magazine Marie Claire conducted a Dress Size Survey of 6 women ranging from sizes 6 to 16 and they put it to the public to see which one people thought was “The Sexiest”

59% said the Size 12
13% said the Size 14
10% said the Size 16
Less than 10% preferred Size 8 and under.

• Size 16 is the average dress size in Australia compared to Size 18 in America.
• The average waist size is 87.5cm and if you are over 25 it goes up an average of 2cm every 5 years.
• The average weight in Australia is 67.7kg.

So is society is changing back to a more realistic view as to what women should look like? Clearly men and women have a totally different perception of what “Sexy” is.
Personally I would LOVE for us all to know that we are all different and we need to embrace what God has given us and dress to our body shape and know that as long as we are Healthy & Happy then that IS the bigger picture.

Happy New Year Guys! May it bring you everything you would like it too xxx

I'm Pole Dancing....

HA! I give you permission to laugh out loud!

Today was the 1st day of my Pole Dancing Course. It was so much fun and I was so not sexy!

But if you're wondering what kind of workout it is well:
It's mostly a strength workout, I can really feel my arms and legs the most.
It's a little cardio but not much, I'll have to keep my 5km walks up!

The thing that I was shocked with is how quickly you learn tricks. I'm already swinging around the pole, sliding down the pole, Arhh dear it's too funny!

It beats weights any day, it is really good for a laugh.

I do it at Pole Princess they are really good.

Eating Healthy Is Easy!

There are so many diets and programs out there, honestly where would you start?

If you do want to go down that track then make sure they teach you HOW TO EAT HEALTHY and you have to learn how to cook it as well.

I don't really understand the whole they cook it for you. What are you suppose to be on it for the rest of your life?
Or when you stop it you're just going to put the weight back on. Hello!

You really don't have to be a rocket science to work it out. Cut out the crap!

Here is what I do:

I follow the 80-20 rule. Be good 80% of the time give yourself a 'Free Day' to eat whatever you want.
*if you want to lose weight then maybe do 95-5

If it's in the house I will eat it in a heart beat until it's gone. SO I don't buy it or I only buy enough for my 'Free Day'

Scheduled Snacks
Are my new thing! It stops me from picking or over eating at meals.

At 10:30am I have a yogurt and a White Tea (White Tea is my new thing as well- it's exactly like green tea without the caffeine and the yucky taste)

At 2pm I have another White Tea and 2 corn thins with avocado on it, or carrots sticks with my spinach dip (spinach, natural yogurt, spring veg soup mix)it's delish!

Then it's just Breakfast, Lunch and dinner:

Breakfast- It's fruit toast, Vegemite on toast or cereal and always a coffee. If you have time it's the best meal to eat alot like eggs, toast, cereal and fruit. But I'm not a morning person and can't be bothered.

Lunch- I make a big batch of soup (I'm a soup freak!)Lentils, beans, pulses and veges (whatever I have in the fridge) It's hearty so it's filling.

Dinner- No bread, pasta or potatoes. I have sweet potatoes instead. Everything is either steamed, grilled or oven baked. Always with salad or veges. I'm not a salad person so what I do is I roast veges and I let then cool then use them to make a salad.
I try to have a small portion of meat and fill up with veges or salad.
Just on meat: no sausages, chops or fatty meat. I stick with lean steak, fish, lamb and chicken.

I'm happy to exchange recipes so let me know!

Fitness For Mum's

So you've just had baby and you're DYING to feel a little bit human but there is NO TIME to workout!

How or where in world do you fit it in?

I had my routine down pat in Summer & Autumn. 9am when it's Milly's sleep time I'd load up the pram and go for a 5km walk. Home by 10am if Maddie was a good girl on the walk we'd drop by the park. Then home by half 10 to shower get ready and feed Milly her 11am bottle! Easy.
But Winter arrives and the colds kick in and any other infection that decides to come visit. At 9am it's 4ْ outside it's ridiculously cold and I'm just will not risking my kids getting sick, AGAIN! So where do I fit it in. Mmmmm

This is my new winter routine.

* Walk in the afternoons after Milly's 3pm bottle. I burn around 450 Calories

* I start Pole Dancing next week. I know don't laugh I'll let you know how I go, it will be a good laugh. I need to laugh! I should burn about 550 Calories

* You know that in between time where there is no time to anywhere and do something. But there is still time before the kids lunch and sleeps. I don't like Maddison watching too much T.V. So I've started to turn the T.V off and crank the music up and dance!
Yes I jump around like a mad woman and show Maddie my moves and as we tear up the lounge room. The kids love it and I do too and you build up a sweat. I burn around 190 Calories.

* Then somewhere in my day I will do sit ups, push ups, squats blah blah blah that will take around 10 to 15 mins. About 90 calories.

If the gym works better for you then do that. I just find that with the girls at home and at night, well I can't be bothered. So this way I can fit it in during that day I'm not doing it when both of the girls are asleep as I need that time to work on Alluring, so for me it works great.

I get 90% of my ideas when I'm walking or dancing. I feel so much better for it mentally and physically and I'm setting a good example for my girls and do you know what? I feel FREE when I'm dancing around my lounge room. My head is a zillion times clearer now then what it has been in a long time. WHY? because I am living in the moment and enjoying the time I spend walking, dancing, being with my girls, with Chris, working on Alluring and my blog. Because I am making a special effort that when I am doing whatever I'm only thinking about that thing. I am not thinking about anything else so when I do it, I do it well.

Do you have any tips?
