Are you a Supermum?

Supermum’s come in all shapes and sizes and what makes each mum a Supermum is different.

Sometimes this gift is a good thing and sometimes it drives me CRAZY!

I was doing a grocery shop today with my Maddison and Milly. Maddie in the trolley and Milly in the Baby Bjorn, I’m shopping away and I went to bend down and pick up a case of milk (of course they were right down the bottom) a lady walks up and says “Do you need a hand?” And I said “That would be great, Thank you!” she was a lady in her late 50’s and she put it in my trolley and she said “You know you’re not a Supermum and you shouldn’t try to be. You look after yourself” My usual emotional self (which I’ve come to get use to and I’m ok with it!) I just felt like hugging her!

Then I thought: Why do we do it? It’s crazy! Every week I lift 12 litres of milk along with everything else in my trolley with Milly who is 9kg in the Baby Bjorn. Hello…

Why? Time management! I have excellent time management I HAVE too. I choose to have a business, blog, 2 kids under 3, build a house and do whatever else I need too. It is crucial I have excellent time management. I have to calculate every minute I have sleeps, solids, bottles, business and blog to fit everything around everyday. (not to mention the 5000 loads of washing)

That makes you a Supermum!

My Mum is a Supermum she had all of the housework done by 9am! House was always spotless she was always on top of her game and she had 5 kids and she worked. Maybe it’s her fault! She lifted the bar to high. Now I have these crazy exceptions of myself and the only time I sit down during the day is to work.
But you know, I love that she made me make my bed because now I hate an unmade bed. I can’t think straight if the house is untidy or unorganised. Why? We are creatures of habit it’s what I am used too. My mum made us drink water growing up, now I drink oodles, I can’t not. Little things you don’t realise that shape us into the Supermum's we are today.

So Mum, I love what you have moulded me this way otherwise I wouldn’t get anything done! I’d be fluffing about all day long achieving nothing. Then I really would be crazy!

Chris said last night why don’t you just do the shopping on Friday (my child free WORK day) I said I NEED that day to work. I have one day in the week that I can sit down and work from morning to night I need it and it is a very productive day.

I choose to organise my week around my Fridays so they are free to work, work, work.

What crazy things happen in your house?

What Makes You Smart?

If you are “smart” you believe “smart” has more then one facet.
Are you smart?

• If you are a spiritual person you will believe you have a core.
• If you are a scientific person you will believe you have a chemical balance.
• If you are a builder you will believe you are structurally sound.
• If you are into computers you will believe in your hard drive.

No matter whom you are or what you believe in. Everyone has a core that balances you and makes you feel right.
If you are lucky you know what you believe in and you get to do it everyday and this will balance you. Hopefully it is your job and excelling in your field with passion, love & laughter, this is what makes you smart.

Then sometimes life throws you a curve ball and brings you off balance.
You know when things happen and with in an instant they can take you back to a time like it was yesterday. I had one of those moments this week and unfortunately it wasn’t a good moment. Which lead me to this……?

If you’re off centre, you don’t have sound scaffolding or you are missing your hard drive.
You can’t function to your full potential. It is like wearing an uncomfortable or ill fitted bra. It will kind of do the job maybe but not well, and in the long run not at all.

So think of a bra as setting the foundation, if you get that right the rest will just fall into place. Improve posture, it is very slimming, very comfortable and it will make your clothes look nicer and give you confidence.

Like life if you can get your foundation, core, chemical balance (whatever) if you get that right the rest will just work. So when life gives you a curve ball you can quickly tweak it and you’ll be back on track.

Ready?

When my TOF Baby Strictures..

The first time Maddison strictures it was dead obvious.
She was 9 months old and she was having her pureed dinner and she choked (which is normal, as you know happens ALL the time)
She then couldn't breathe and she turned blue. So I lay her over my knee pat her back and she brings it back up.

Then she starts choking on her bottle which is of course is liquid. So really, totally crazy and time to go and see her surgeon Tom.

It's a day surgery and Tom says it's very easy a minor surgery. She'll be on puree for a couple of days then back to normal. Great, a bit scary but great.

We go in for the dilation she goes under a general anesthetic they go down with a camera via her mouth insert a balloon and blow it up to stretch her join.

It all went really well and off we went home. I wasn't expecting the recovery time to be sooo painful for her. Chris had gone back to work because we thought it was a minor thing. Not so much!
She was crying hysterically, screaming in pain for 2 days straight. It was horrible for both of us!
But on the 3rd day she started to get better. So that was that.

So when is it time to go back?
This time NOT so obvious. We had only had appointments with her paediatrician and said she was doing great. When we told her what she can eat and what she can't, it was all fine.

In a normal week (she is nearly 3) She will choke at least once. She can't tolerate meat only small pieces of chicken and fish. She can still only eat pureed fruit, lollies are a no no, soft bread no, any big pastas like penne not on your life.
Raw carrots forget it!

If she has a cold Oh my goodness it gets worse! and you know how easily a TOF baby gets a cold. For a normal child it won't be so bad but for a TOF child it's the worst thing ever!

But we were told it was normal so 18 months go by and we have an appointment with Tom. We knew she needed another dilation it was our gut feeling so it wasn't a shock when he said she had too.

WHAT did shock me was this: I asked him 'OK at what point should we bring her back in?'He said 'Most TOF parents fall into the category of safe. Parents give the TOF babies what they know the can tolerate but a TOF baby needs to progress in their foods, so we have to try them on new things and if they aren't or can't then it's time to go back for a dilation!'

What The? I do give her new things but if she struggles and can't then I will stop. She has been doing this for 18 months. She should of had another dilation 18 months ago!
Well as I felt like the most terrible parent in the world!
And Chris said "Renee there is no hand book on this, we were told it was normal. it's not your fault"
I know that, but at that time I really felt bad for my little girl!

You know when EVERYONE around you bangs on about how good she is doing OR they totally forget about her condition because they can't SEE it they think it's not there. When you say no she can't eat that, they think it's because you don't want her to junk or you're just really over the top with her.

You feel like smacking them over the head don't you!

It is there and it will ALWAYS be there and that's OK because we have become expects at managing it and monitoring it.

THE GOLDEN RULE IS Anything with your TOF babies development see your paediatrician. ANYTHING with their join or eating see your surgeon. If they aren't progressing go in they will need a dilation.

Music Brings The People

Music does bring people together. It's the only time we are all united.
We hear the same words, dance to the same beat and hear the same music.

Maybe that's why everyone loves it. Is it the freedom or is it the unison or is it that music has the ability to take us back to places with in a instant. It allows us to dream, reminisce and just be.

I totally get why you can heal people through music.

Because behind every person their is really just a child. A creation of what we were exposed to growing up. If you think about your pet peeves or what makes you happy I guarantee you whether you know it or not it relates back to when you were a child.

Sometimes it makes you sad and sometimes it makes you happy and thats life. It's how we choose to process it and hopefully use it to our advantage.

You know we you see someone your entire life and for that whole time you think they are perfect, they can do no wrong. Because in your eyes they are perfect.

Then when you get older and wiser and time passes and 'things' happen you realise they aren't perfect and they do make mistakes.
For some stupid reason you feel disappointed in them and you think they have changed.
Then you realise maybe they haven't changed that you are the one that has changed and grown.
For the first time you are viewing things for how they really are! It's up to you to forgive them within yourself.
They really haven't done anything wrong it's who they have always been. We just didn't see it before because WE chose NOT too.

As much as it has hurt you and that's OK. We live and learn and we move on. It is really only a problem if you don't work through and understand it. Please don't pretend it hasn't happened because it has and it won't go away unless you work through it so you can move on.

Time is precious. Days go by, then weeks, then years. Until it's gone and as somber as that sounds it's true. So you may think that you have more important things to do but I think that's such a cop out. I think you are afraid to deal with your problems. But from the bottom of my heart I hope you do so you can live your life.

Some people don't get that chance, so for the people that do get that chance it's important we do live, laugh and enjoy life.

This is for you, my old friend who sadly didn't get that chance. You didn't even get to finish putting your groceries away! For you, your children and your family I will live my life because I have that chance too.

Thank you for the memories. I'll miss your beautiful eyes and your beautiful/cheeky smile!

I'm Pole Dancing....

HA! I give you permission to laugh out loud!

Today was the 1st day of my Pole Dancing Course. It was so much fun and I was so not sexy!

But if you're wondering what kind of workout it is well:
It's mostly a strength workout, I can really feel my arms and legs the most.
It's a little cardio but not much, I'll have to keep my 5km walks up!

The thing that I was shocked with is how quickly you learn tricks. I'm already swinging around the pole, sliding down the pole, Arhh dear it's too funny!

It beats weights any day, it is really good for a laugh.

I do it at Pole Princess they are really good.
